About Us

Honky Tonkin Donkey - Wow. We did it. We decided to go after the music.

Singing, Dancing, Playing, and Cheerful banter are characteristic of EVERY Honky Tonkin' Donkey show!

We are currently playing at several venues in New Orleans.

Generally, we play at the Apple Barrel (609 Frenchmen St) every tues & wed from 4-8 PM, Sat. 3-6 PM, and on alternate Tuesdays we also perform in the 8-10 PM slot…

Thursdays we perform at JohnPaul’s (940 Elysian Fields) 8-11 PM

Sundays we play 1-4 PM for the brunch crowd at St. Rock Tavern (1200 St. Roch)

Bio:

Mitch is an accomplished musician/guitarist who has performed all over the world with numerous bands including Zozobra, Bill's Friends, Ryhs Chatham, Meewee Beastie, and other various bands, too many to list.    

Mitch is also a well known engineer, having run audio for such names as Ella Fitzgerald, BB King, Ornette Coleman, Dexter Gordon, Sonny Rollins, The New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, and many more...
    
Stella has been a "Broadway Trained" singer for longer than she wants to admit ('cause then you might guess her age). She was known as "Ol' Number 13" when she would sit in with Evelyn Blakey (Daughter of renound jazz musician, Art Blakey) at the Antique Cafe (a long gone underground scene in NYC's East Village) She was also the lead singer of Stella and the Starlights, performing around various venues in northern New Jersey.     

Stella's experience as a "Cover Vocalist" clashed with Mitch's background as an "Art/Experimental Musician" and, with the exception of a few projects, they didn't play or perform together until one day they looked at each other and said, "DUH!". They now perform at several venues in New Orleans.
